In a triumphant return to their home city, Bboyizm brings to Ottawa the premiere of their newest dancework Music Creates Opportunity.  Choreographer Crazy Smooth continues to explore themes of personal expression through authentic street dance while pushing the boundaries of this increasingly popular art form. Bboyizm’s first work Izm – which premiered at the 2010 CDF – challenged audiences’ expectations of both street and stage dance. Music Creates Opportunity builds on that foundation, taking precise and mastered technique and incorporating partnering and principles of contact improvisation. The result is an hour-long explosion of movement that brings synchronicity and individualism together in a celebration of dance, music, and life.

“[The audience] understands that Bboyizm has left the basics behind and is carrying urban dance to the next level…” – Paula Citron, Globe and Mail

Performers:  Yvon Soglo aka Crazy Smooth, Melissa Flerangile aka Melly Mel, El Houari Si Abdelkader aka Wary the Warrior, Julie Benoit aka Julie Rock, Marie Benoit aka Miss Marie, Mathieu Ulrich aka Soul Step, Rahime Gay-Labbé aka NOSB
