Corpus makes a welcome return to the CDF with Machina Nuptialis, a theatrical orchestration of a timeless ritual: the wedding. Juggling realism with pure fantasy, and contemporary dance with the Theatre of the Absurd, artistic director David Danzon re-invents the ritual of holy matrimony in true Corpus style. Guests are seated in the round, greeted by a trio of nervous grooms and treated to a celebration like no other as three couples get married, kiss, dance, fight, make up, and strip off their clothes in anticipation of the honeymoon.

“Corpus is throwing the biggest wedding in town [with] audience participation galore. We are, after all, the friends and relations who dance at the wedding, pose for pictures with the happy couples, drink wine, clink our glasses to make the brides and grooms kiss, give gifts and receive party favours (the traditional candied almonds).” – Paula Citron, The Globe and Mail
