The world premiere of The 60 Dancer Project is a one-time only performance spectacle with 60 dancers, seven musicians and 60 blank canvasses. This cross-Canada collaboration, created by Ottawa-based choreographer Tedd Robinson will feature the music of composer Charles Quevillon, an emerging force in the contemporary art world, performing live with Montreal-based brass quintet Magnitude 6.  Featuring 60 of Canada’s newest graduates from five of the best contemporary dance schools in Canada, this production features a collected ensemble of performers from Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, Montréal and Québec.

About the Project:

The CDF is committed to supporting the work of young artists and emerging dance professionals within the context of the festival program. In 2014 we will present the fourth installment of a national collaboration project which includes professional development for young artists through training and workshops with festival artists and showcases of the graduating classes of five contemporary dance training institutions with works created by some of Canada’s most innovative and well known choreographers. The project also includes a main-stage commissioned work created especially for the 2014 CDF by choreographer Tedd Robinson and the collected group of 60 plus performers who come together for the first time as an ensemble in Ottawa this June.

About 10 Gates Dancing:

10 Gates Dancing promotes the development and performance of contemporary dance creations. Through the teaching, creation and performance of these works, 10 Gates provides entry points for the education of the public to contemporary and theatrical dance. Since its inception, under the artistic direction of Tedd Robinson, the company has created an exceptional body of work for some of the most renowned dance artists and companies in Canada and has held a unique role in the field of dance through its mentorship activities with choreographers in Canada and abroad. The company is based in Ottawa and works on national and international stages.  For more information, click here.
